Biography
From Schoonebeek, Holland, comes the “Old School Death Metal” band DEPARTED SOULS.
The band was formed in 2013, when old friends met again after 20 years.
From 1988 until 1994, the band members played together in several local Death Metal bands known as NECROPSY, SEKHMET, and some other projects. Some demo materials were recorded back then. But nothing worked out seriously. After that, they all went their ways with several bands.
While being both fanatic metal record collectors, Rai and Alwin came in contact again after 20 years. This was somewhere end 2013.
Chatted for a while and so they decided to form a new band, and play the music they loved since they were youngsters; Old School Death Metal.
And for sure not the nowadays perfect produced technical Death Metal. …No…. The music should sound like the old demo-trading days back in 1988/1990. Raw, dirty and unpolished.
Two other friends from the old days were called in. Nick (SALACIOUS GODS), who played also before with Alwin in another band, THE WOUNDED. And Erik, who was the guitar player in SEKHMET, soon joined us. And the band immediately started to write their own material.
In 2014 the band released the ‘Demo 2014′ CD/TAPE and got a record deal at ‘Ancient Darkness Productions’ from Denmark, to release their debut mini-album ‘Barbaric Tortures’ on the 1st of May 2015.
A Music cassette version from this mini-album was released by the German label Unholy Prophecies.
DEPARTED SOULS plays “Old School Nasty Rotting Death Metal” exclusively.
